Guideline E.164 The international public telecommunication numbering plan of ITU-T regulates the international numbering of telephone numbers between the national telephone networks. E.164 defines the components of a telephone number and how many digits it may contain. Furthermore, the international area codes (such as 41 for Switzerland, 43 for Austria and 49 for Germany) are fixed.
